Stan Shillingburg has retired from the military on July 1st after a 27 year career. Shillingburg, an Army man, began his career at Fort Jackson and ended it at Fort Jackson. Shillingburg, who served in the National Guard, retired as an E-8 Master Sergeant. He held the rank of First Sergeant in Darlington and during his second tour in Afghanistan. He had two tours in Afghanistan. Most of his time was spent as part of the 82nd Airborne. He received two bronze star medals during his service. Shillingburg’s intention is now to attend college in Charleston to study photography.
