GIBSON, NC—John Lee, 61, of Mason’s Cross community, died at home Tuesday, June 12, 2012 after a brief illness.
John was born in Dillon, SC on June 16, 1950 to Jack and Helen Lee of Hamer, SC. He attended Campbell University and Pembroke College and later joined the Air Force. He worked at the US Post Office in Dillon and was Postmaster in Hamer, SC. John operated N&G Farms with his cousin Neil until he retired in 2007.
He was an active member of Scotland County RC Flyers and enjoyed building radio-controlled model planes. John was constantly designing and inventing various implements to use in farming. His love of motorcycles led him on many road trips with his wife and his brother, Ronnie.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Blue Lee of Mason’s Cross and two step children, Mary Blue Tharrington of the home and Adam Worth Tharrington of Wilmington; his parents, Jack and Helen Lee of Hamer; a brother, Ronald C. Lee of Hamer and a sister, Luanne L. Bozard (Roger) of Dillon.
The family received friends at home, 11500 Old Stage Rd., on Saturday, June 16, from 5-7 p.m. A private memorial service will be held.
