Latta’s Lady Vikings dominated the first two rounds of District V playoffs, shutting out Lamar 15-0 in four innings and downing Region 5 champ Branchville 13-1.

On Thursday, Latta hosted Lamar and shut out the Silver Foxes with Anna Rogers pitching a four-inning no-hitter. Latta scored four runs in the first, eight in the second, and three in the bottom of the third for the win.

Rogers picked up the win, striking out eight and walking two while allowing no hits. Lamar’s K. Hanna took the loss, pitching two innings for five hits, 12 runs, and 11 earned runs.

At bat for Latta, Dallas Sweat went 2-for-2 with two RBI; Chelsea Welty went 1-for-1 with a triple; Allison Moody went 1-for-1; Lily Carter went 1-for-1; and maya Wright went 1-for-1. The Lady Vikings had nine hits and one error in the win.

On Saturday, Latta traveled to Branchville and defeated the Yellow Jackets 13-1 in five innings. Both teams were scoreless until Latta got their first run in the top of the third and piled on seven in the fourth and five in the fifth to lead 13-0. Branchville’s lone run came in the bottom of the fifth to end the game 13-1.

Tori Grimsley picked up the win for Latta, pitching all five innings for three hits, one run, one earned run, and two outs.

At bat for Latta, Dallas Sweat and Taylor Cox each went 2-for-2, and Mikenzi Caniglia went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Latta had nine hits in the win, while Branchville had three hits and six errors.

Latta’s record improves to 15-4 for the season, while Branchville falls to 15-2.

On Monday, Branchville was scheduled to host Lamar. Latta will host the winner of the game on Wednesday.
