Our seventh week PTI (Pre Trial Intervention) meeting was held on Monday, February 13, 2012, 7 p.m., at the Riverdale Community Center.
The purpose of this meeting is to sponsor a program by the Solicitor’s office called PTI, which consists of “First Time Offenders” who have been charged with non-violent crimes. This is an eight program that consists of various speakers who share their idea. In these sessions, there is a question and answer session.
The meeting was opened by Rev. Michael Battle, Chaplain, with prayer, Rev. Battle. He introduced the speakers.
Ray Williamson, Pyerian Baptist Church, spoke from Romans 10:9 and 13:11–14 in great detail. He told the participants that they have been given an opportunity for a second chance. Here is an opportunity to accept Jesus because time is at hand. Mr. Williamson gave background information on himself. He also told the participants that they have the opportunity to get it right. Be patient and wait on the Lord and let Him give you what you need. In closing, Mr. Williamson state that Jesus us the way. Pray with ceasing.
Joe Williams, President, gave an overview of the program to the new participants He reiterated the importance of being on time. He told the participants to take heed to all the speakers and take notes. In closing, Mr. Williams encourage them to take advantage of this program and utilize all the speakers and staff for assistance.
Titus Bethea, St. Matthew AME Church, encouraged the participants to set goals. Make goals that are attainable. Life is about goals. Sometimes it is a struggle, but you must keep on to attain them. This is your learning process. Learn from your mistakes. In closing, Mr. Bethea stated you should take what you learn here and go forward. We are here to help and not hurt you.
