William Benjamin “W.B.” Lester, Sr., 75, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Carolina’s Hospital System in Florence.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday in Cooper Funeral Home.
Born in Dillon County, SC, December 26, 1936, he was the son of the late James Herbert Lester and Eva Mae Perritt Lester. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was the Sunday School Superintendant for 45 years, and Deacon Emeritus, and retired from the City of Dillon as the Code Enforcement Officer and Building Inspector. He also worked for Tomlinson’s for 29 years, was a Past Master Mason and Treasurer of the Mackey Lodge #77, was a National Guard Veteran, and was an avid golfer, and member of the Twin Lakes Country Club. He was a loyal Gamecock Fan.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Patsy Bethea Lester of Dillon; daughter, Patsy Lou (Terry) Powers of Dillon; grandson, Mason Powers of Dillon; sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Parham of Latta, and Frances Lester of Little Rock; special nephews, Clint Sullivan of Dillon, Harvey Bethea of Bluffton, and Eddie Lester of Little Rock, SC; special niece, Patty Cottingham of Effingham, SC; numerous great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Lester was preceded in death by his son, William Benjamin “Benji” Lester, Jr.; and his brothers, James Lester and Earl Lester.
