The Dillon Christian Warriors defeated the Carolina Academy Bobcats 55-22 on Friday and downed the Marlboro Academy Dragons 55-34 on Saturday to continue on to the SCISA Region 4-AA championship game on Monday.
The Warriors easily took out Carolina on Friday, outscoring the Bobcats 12-2 and 16-2 in the first two quarters to lead 28-4 at the half. The Warriors outscored Carolina 27-18 in the second half to claim the 55-22 win.
Kin Melvin led the Warriors with a game-high 20 points, followed by Tyler Davis with 12 and Neil Melvin with 11. Will Brown added four, and Jeremiah Cribb and Dorian Sellers each earned three, with Matthew Price contributing two points in the win.
Kin Melvin had seven assists in the game, with Neil Melvin grabbing 13 rebounds. Brown made four assists, Cribb picked up six rebounds, and Price grabbed seven, with Sellers adding five and Landry Collins picked up two.
Dylan Moore led Carolina with nine points, followed by Ken Parker with five. Garrett Weaver and Stephen Lee each added four.
On Saturday, Tyler Davis and Neil Melvin each earned 18 points to lead the Warriors over Marlboro Academy.
Dillon Christian got off to a one-point 10-9 lead at th end of the first and widened the gap with a 14-9 second quarter to lead 24-18 at the half. The Warriors had a big third quarter, outscoring Marlboro 17-4 to firmly secure the lead, and finished up by outscoring the Dragons 14-12 in the fourth.
Davis and Neil Melvin each added 18 points, with Melvin picking up 10 rebounds in the win. Kin Melvin added nine points for the Warriors with 12 assists, and Will Brown earned eight points with seven rebounds. Sellers scored two points, while Cribb picked up five rebounds and four steals, and Price grabbed four rebounds.
Malcolm Calhoun led Marlboro Academy with a team-high 17 points. Walton Calhoun and Will Bundy each added four, John Beaty scored three, and Scott Bruner, Chase Bruner, and Stephen Andrews each earned two points for the Dragons.
The Warriors were 12-11 overall as they headed into the championship game against The Byrnes School Trojans on Monday. Dillon Christian lost both previous encounters with the Trojans this season.
