The Dillon Christian School Warriors added three wins last week over Carolina Academy, Williamsburg Academy, and Trinity Collegiate.
On Tuesday, January 31, the Warriors defeated the Carolina Academy Bobcats 66-41 in boys basketball action.
The Warriors started things off with an 8-2 lead and went 20-15 in the second period to lead 28-17 at the half. Both teams earned 15 points in the third, but the Warriors dominated the fourth quarter with Kin Melvin adding 11 of his 19 points, outscoring the Bobcats 23-9 to claim the win.
Kin Melvin scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Warriors,with Neil Melvin earning 15 points, Jeremiah Cribb scoring 13, and Tyler Davis earning 12. Kin Melvin also made a team-high seven assists with four steals, while Neil Melvin grabbed 12 rebounds. Cribb picked up four rebounds, and Davis grabbed nine rebounds with four blocks.
Will Brown added three points with three steals, and Matthew Price and Dorrian Sellers each earned two. Price also grabbed five rebounds, and Sellers grabbed two. Landry Collins earned one assist in the win.
Carolina Academy was led by Garrett Weaver with 13 points and Ken Parker with eight. Brett Floyd scored five points, Hunter Blue scored three, and Dylan Moore, Stephen Lee, and Brandon Morris each earned four.
On Thursday, the Warriors traveled to Williamsburg Academy to face the Stallions and came away with a 62-40 win.
DCS outscored Williamsburg 10-5 in the first and 17-6 in the second to lead 27-11 by the half. The Stallions came to life in the third for 19 points, but the Warriors remained in the lead by adding 20 points of their own. The Warriors wrapped up the win with a 15-10 fourth quarter.
Kin Melvin and Tyler Davis each scored 14 points to lead the Warriors and Neil Melvin added 13 points in the win. Jeremiah Cribb added nine points, Will Brown earned six, and Matthew Price scored four, with Dorrian Sellers getting two points for the Warriors.
Williamsburg was led by Christopher Kellehan with 15 points and Tyler Braynon with 13. Stavro Najjar scored six points, and Robbie Heathcott, Tripp Ward, and Tyrone Singletary each added two.
On Friday, Dillon Christian wrapped up the week with a 58-52 win over Trinity Collegiate.
It was a close start as the Warriors took a 14-12 lead in the first and went 13-12 in the second to lead 27-24 at the half. The Titans lost some steam in the third as the Warriors widened the gap, outscoring Trinity 16-10 to lead 43-34 heading into the fourth. The Titans poured everything they had into the fourth where they outscored Dillon Christian 18-15. But despite a hard-fought period, the Warriors were able to hang on to the lead for the 58-52 win.
Kin Melvin again led Dillon Christian with 16 points, with Tyler Davis adding 14 and Will Brown scoring 12. Matthew Price and Neil Melvin each earned seven points, and Jeremiah Cribb scored two in the win.
Michael Pavy scored 18 points for Trinity with Tyron McElveen adding 16 and Damon Samuel earning 12. George Johnson, David Stanton, and Justin Covington each earned two points for the Titans.
With the wins, Dillon Christian’s record improves to 10-11 overall and 9-4 in SCISA Region 4-AA.
The Warriors were scheduled to host their final game of the regular season on Monday night when they hosted Pee Dee Academy. Find results from the game and playoff info in Thursday’s issue!
