Dillon’s Wildcats finished in sixth place in the Pepsi Carolina Classic basketball tournament held December 27 through December 30.

Dillon fell to their first opponent, Marion, 58-44 on Tuesday, December 27. The Swamp Foxes got an early 22-2 lead to dominate the game. Chris Washington scored 18 points to lead Marion, with Kevin Rowell adding 11 points and eight rebounds and Marqui McKelvy earning nine.

John Caulder led the Wildcats with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

On the second day of the tournament, Dillon pulled out a 71-65 victory over Florence Christian. Dillon sealed the victory in the fourth quarter when they outscored the Eagles 26-11.

Breon Page led Dillon with 24 points with John Caulder adding 14. Florence Christian’s Alan Parnell earned a game-high 25 points for the Eagles, with Trae Livingston scoring 15.

On Friday, December 30, the Wildcats fell to their final tournament opponent West Florence 82-43.

West Florence had 13 players who scored in the win as they claimed the consolation bracket II championship. Sawyer Elgin and Shamari Moses each had 11 points for the Knights, with Elgin getting six rebounds. Kelso Wright added 10 points.

Breon Page led Dillon with 17 points as the Wildcats finished the tournament 1-3.
