Monroe Raymond Kannaday, 83, died December 23, 2011 at the McLeod Regional Medical Center in Dillon, SC. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Latta with burial in Magnolia Cemetery in Latta. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2011 at Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta.

Mr. Kannaday was born May 7, 1928 in Lexington County, SC, the son of the late Thomas George and Viola Lybrand Kannaday. He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a graduate of Gupton-Jones School of Mortuary Science in Dallas, TX, and the founder of Kannaday’s Funeral Home in Latta, SC in 1970 and later Dillon. He was a former member of Latta Fire Department, where he served as past secretary and treasurer, and the Latta Rescue Squad. Mr. Kannaday was also a member of American Legion Post #32 and the VFW. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was discharged with the rank of sergeant with three Bronze Service Stars.

Mr. Kannady is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cook Kannaday of the home; his son, Kim D. (Colleen) Kannaday of Bloomington, IL; and his two grandchildren, Roman D. and Tanner E. Kannaday. He was the last child in his family being predeceased by his sister Evelyn K. Harman and his brothers, Thomas F. Kannaday, Paul D. Kannaday, Ryan L. Kannaday, and Robert M. Kannaday.
