Latta’s Lady Vikings fell to Mullins by just one point on Friday as the Lady Auctioneers edged Latta 58-57.

Mullins started strong, outscoring Latta 20-9 in the first quarter. But the Lady Vikings rallied to add 17 points in the second to Mullins’ seven, nearly tying the game at 27-26 at the half. Latta returned from the break to outscore Mullins 12-11 and tie things at 38-38 as they headed into the final quarter, where Mullins edged out Latta by just one point to claim the win, 58-57.

The Lady Vikings were led by Tianna DeBerry and Takeria Legette with 22 points each. Jessica Evans scored four points, Jocelyn Vereen earned three, and Maya Wright and Silesia Braddy each added two points.

Brittany Rowell led Mullins with 22 points, with Jaleah Lasane and Neisha Godfrey each adding 14.

The Lady Vikings fall to 0-4 overall while Mullins improves to 2-2.

Latta is scheduled to open region play tonight at 6:00 p.m. when they travel to Hemingway to take on the Tigers. After that, the Lady Vikings will be on break until the new year, when they’ll host Dillon on Tuesday, January 3. Make plans to attend to support our local teams!
