Gladys Anita McDaniel Oakley of Dillon passed away at her daughter’s home in Smithfield, Virginia on September 5, 2011 after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Jasper McDaniel and Sarah Ruby Barrineau. She was preceded in death by her parents, a special Aunt Lizzie Barrineau, brothers William, Marion and Kam McDaniel, her sister Ruby Jean Harpster, husband Dee Roy Oakley and infant son Douglas Raymond Elvington. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Anita E. Steele (Ivery) of Smithfield, Virginia; her sons McKeithan (Barbara) and Gregory Elvington of Newport News, Virginia and Murry (Elizabeth) Oakley of Poquoson, Virginia; her brother Earle McDaniel of Florence, SC and her sister Dora Gasque of Dillon, SC; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Burial was private.
