On Saturday, May 7, the Dillon High School girls track team won the Region 8-2A Lower State title in Charleston, S.C., while the boys won the 4×100 relay. Both teams will be going on to run for the State Championship in Columbia, South Carolina, on Saturday, May 14.
Nathaniel Carmichael, Donald Bethea, Tyreck Hayes, and Ahmad Nelson were the winners of the 4×100 Relay race for the Dillon boys.
In the girls’ events, Kedisha Davis earned first place in the 100-meter Dash and second in the 200-meter Dash, with Zipporah Lighty finishing first in Shot Put and fourth in Discus.
In the 400-meter Run, Kadejah Sellers took first place, with Pamela Robinson finishing in second.
Deajah Tyson, Kadejah Sellers, Jessica Manning, and Kedisha Davis finished first place in the 4×100 Relay, and Jessica Manning, Linzy Boatwright, Pamela Robinson, and Kadejah Sellers finished second in the 4×400 Relay.
Dillon track coach Tony Washington will be accompanying the team to the state finals at Spring Valley High School on Saturday.
