Latta’s Lady Vikings swept a seven inning game against Carvers Bay on Tuesday, coming away with a 10-0 win at home.

Latta scored five runs in the first and three in the second to give them an 8-0 lead, but both teams would fail to score again until the bottom of the sixth, when Latta added their final two points for the 10-0 win.

Morgan Massey was the winning pitcher, going three innings and allowing only two hits. Massey struck out four. Anna Rogers also pitched for Latta, allowing only two hits.

The losing pitcher was Carvers Bay’s C. Jones, who pitched all six innings for the Bears and allowed 15 hits, 10 runs, and eight earned runs, striking out one.

Latta’s leading hitters were Raven Baxley, 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs; Charise Braddy, 2-for-4 with a home run; Allison Moody, 2-for-4; Dallas Gilbert, 2-for-4 with an RBI; Dallas Sweat, 2-for-4 with an RBI; and Andrea Gilbert, 2-for-4 with an RBI.

The Lady Vikings improve to 10-2 overall this season and 6-1 in Region 8-A to remain in second place. Latta softball also continues to be one of the top 10 Class A softball programs in the state, voted sixth place for the second week in a row.

Latta will host Green Sea-Floyds tonight at 5:30 p.m. On Monday, April 11, the Lady Vikings travel to Lamar for a non-region game that was originally scheduled for March 31.
