Dr. Miranda E. Page, school counselor at East Elementary School, and Cedric Page recently delivered pop top tabs to the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston, SC. The tabs had been removed from drink cans and collected by students during the school year at East Elementary. This was one of the service learning projects that the students took part in as part of Dillon School District Four. The tabs will be recycled and used to help pay for lodging at the house for children that are receiving treatment at the Medical University in Charleston. The tabs are worth 50 cents a pound. Thirty-three gallons will cover the cost of housing for a family and seriously ill child for one night. This little tab is like a gold nugget to the Ronald McDonald House in Charleston. Members of the community may make donations to this project also by dropping pop tabs off at East Elementary School.
