On November 28, 2022, units with the Latta Police Department responded to the Latta Rescue Squad building in reference to an emergency vehicle having been stolen during the early morning hours.
Video surveillance of the suspect was obtained, and the vehicle was listed as stolen, as well as notifications via social media.
Latta Police Department, with assistance from Dillon County Sheriff’s Office investigated several leads. At approximately 1:00 p.m., Latta Police Department was contacted by Nash County (NC) Sheriff’s Office who had located the vehicle along with the suspect.
The suspect has been identified as Ricky Lee Norris of North Charleston, SC.
Norris will be extradited back to SC to face criminal charges in Dillon County.
“I want to thank the citizens who assisted in the recovery of this vital emergency equipment as well as the apprehension of the suspect by Nash County Sheriff’s Office. Notifying authorities of suspicious activity is important in solving crimes like this one,” stated Chief Bryant, Latta Police Department.
