The Latta Lady Vikings returned home on Friday, January 28, with a 60-36 win over the Kingstree Lady Jaguars in Kingstree.
Latta held a 2-point lead, 10-8 after the first quarter of play. By halftime, Latta was up 23-14. After 3 quarters of play, Latta held a 14-point lead, 41-27.
The Lady Jaguars committed 7 fouls in the first half and 8 fouls in the second half while Latta committed 5 fouls in the first half and 9 fouls in the second half.
The Vikings’ Shawniza Bethea led all scorers with 22 points on four 2-point baskets, three 3-point baskets, and 5 free throws. Makayla Legette added 16 points on five 2-point baskets, a 3-point basket, and 3 free throws while Kaliya Herman connected for 10 points on two 2-point baskets and two 3-point baskets. Kardae McFadden and Layla Hyatt each added 6 points on three 2-point baskets.
Loris’ Takiyah McGee led the Jaguars with 13 points on six 2-point baskets and a free throw. Makeda Murphy added 6 points on two 2-point baskets and 2 free throws. Deidra Epps placed 5 points on the scoreboard with two 2-point baskets and a free throw. Malaysia Felder had two 2-point baskets for 4 points while Paige McKnight had a 2-point basket and a free throw for 3 points. Demia Mosley and Ki’ra Brown each sank a 2-point basket. Sha’ray Nesmith added a free throw.
