Columbia – Charles Lupton Moody, 82, passed away at MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Downtown, January 3, 2022. Funeral services were held 3:00 p.m. graveside Saturday, January 8, 2022 in Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon. Family will receive friends after the service. Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon is assisting the family.
Mr. Moody was born September 8, 1939, in Dillon County the oldest of four sons of the late Lupton J. Moody and Blanche Whittington M. Hubbard.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bethea Moody; sons, Gregory C. Moody and Donald F. (Debbie) Moody; granddaughter, Rachael (Charles) Douglas and their daughters Ashleigh and Trista; granddaughter, Jessica Moody and her daughter Lily. He was predeceased by his brothers Carlos, H. Lafon, John M., and grandson Joshua Gregory Moody.
A graduate of Lake View High School Class of 1958. He moved his family to Columbia in 1969 and remained there the rest of his life.
He grew up on a farm with a strong work ethic and worked to become “a jack of all trades” that served him the rest of his life. Most of his life he worked in the construction industry specializing in fine woodwork.
He enjoyed old cars, NASCAR, wrestling, ball games, and especially friendly conversation with anyone.
Charles was a great blessing to his family with his compassion and ability to be a great caregiver to his father, mother, two brothers, and other family members.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at MUSC Providence for their compassion and care and Dr. Bradley Word for years of care.

His earthly love and laughter will be missed but every life he touched will always hold a warm reverence in their heart for selfless good man.
