Services for Richard King Jackson were held 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bethesda Southern Methodist Church Cemetery in Oak Grove. Visitation was held 5:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Jackson, 76, died Friday, June 4, 2021 at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Born in Dillon County, SC, July 27, 1944, he was the son of the late Asbury Jackson and Pauline Haselden Jackson. He was a member of Pyerian Baptist Church, worked as a Logger for many years, and enjoyed fishing and watching Latta softball. He was an eight year South Carolina National Guard Veteran, and also was a two time cancer survivor.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lily Mae Jackson of Latta; daughter, Loria Ann Hyatt Rogers (Buddy) of Marion; grandchildren, Maegan Bolding (Christopher) and Anna Rogers; He was affectionately known as Rick Rick to his many nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great nephews.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Asbury Jackson, Jr., Elizabeth Lane, Annie Grace Rowell, Jake Jackson, Melvin Jackson, Peggy Williams, and Sheldon Jackson; grandson, Cody Rogers.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and social workers who took such good care of Mr. Richard.
