As of today’s, date, August 14, 2020, September 30, 2020 is the deadline for the 2020 census survey and information collection. That means that we in Dillon County have 47 days to get as many people in our county counted as we possibly can. The more that are counted, the more funding from the federal government that our county gets to pay for schools, roads, healthcare and other services that we need and want.
Because of the impact of Covid-19, the coronavirus, on both our health and our economy, jobs were lost, wages were decreased and tax revenue coming into the county treasury is down. Doing a complete and accurate counting of all persons (adults, children and babies) in our county helps he us to get a larger share of the federal funds which may help make up for the loss of tax revenue due to our slow economy.
Census workers have begun visiting homes in Dillon County. These are generally household which have not yet responded to the 2020 census survey. They will be clearly identified with their official U.S. Census Bureau picture I.D. badges. Please be willing to assist them as they explain why they are there and why they are asking the questions that they ask. They will not need to enter your home. The interview will usually take about 10 minutes.
So, let us get our fair share of federal funds for Dillon County. Please assist the field census workers as they visit your homes, and please continue to respond to the survey. We have 47 days left to be counted in Dillon County. Let’s go ALL IN! Responding to the 2020 census survey is easier than ever.
