The Voter ID Bill that is currently under consideration will be a good thing if it is passed and instituted.
Showing photo identification at the polling place would make any attempts at voter fraud more difficult to carry out and would preserve the integrity of the election.
Many argue that it would disenfranchise voters; however, only approximately 178,000 registered voters are estimated to have no driver’s license or state issued id card. With this much notice in advance of the 2012 elections, it seems there would be plenty of time to remedy that situation
Organizations that put a great deal of effort into getting voters registered could put the same effort in making sure that voters have photo ids.
Showing photo identification would protect a person’s right to vote because they would be the only person who could cast their vote.
The poll worker would have a photo id to verify that the person whose name is listed on the book is indeed the person who is voting. It adds more security to the election and will increase the public’s confidence in the election process. Who wouldn’t want that?
