Irene Berry Wilkes, 86, died Saturday, February 5, 2011, at the McLeod Hospice House in Florence.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday in Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Huggins Family Cemetery. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Born in Dillon County, August 6, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Marion Berry and Nellie Mae Lock Berry. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, and attended Dothan Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Danny Mack Wilkes, and was homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Maxine Wilkes of Dillon; sons, Bobby Lee (Maggie) Wilkes of Dillon, Tommy (Emma Pate) Wilkes of Florence, Jimmy Wilkes of Bennettsville (Sheila Locklear) of Dillon; sisters, Louine Ward, twin sister, Suzanne (Joe) Brown, Joanne McPhatter, and Betty Ford; brothers, John D. (Frances) Berry and Kde (Lois) Berry; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-granchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Wilkes was preceded in death by her son, Charles “Buddy” Wilkes.
