Charles D. Smith, Jr.

Prosperity-Services for Charles D. Smith, Jr.,/ Sonni/ Mr. Charles, 69, will be conducted at 5:00 pm Thursday at Lake Murray Baptist Church with the Rev. Rob Tims officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior  to the service (4:00 p.m.) at the church.  Memorials may be made to Lake Murray Baptist Church, 1001 Hwy 378 W, Lexington SC 29072. 

Mr. Smith died Saturday, December 11, 2010.  Born in Seneca, he was a son of the late Charles D. Smith, Sr. and Margie Outz Smith. He received a Master’s Degree in Art from the University of South Carolina, was a member of the McCormick Art Guild, the American Indian Movement, and Lake Murray Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher.  He retired from the Lakeview School System as an Art Teacher, was an avid Gamecock Fan, and a passionate artist. 

Surviving are a son, Steven Scott (Kelly) Smith of Chapin; daughter, Andrea Lynn Hines of Spartanburg and former son-in-law, Robert Stephen Hines; brother, Benjamin Gregory Smith of Edgefield; sister, Marilyn Smith (Don) Melton of Aiken; grandchildren, Ashley Charles, Cameron Smith, Ally Smith, and Stephen Hines, Jr.
