Henry Daniel “Pete” Crosland has been selected as November 2010 Veteran of the Quarter.
On January 16, 1966, he was drafted into the U.S. Marines and did his Basic Training in Paris Island, SC.
Henry served two years, three months, and twenty-three days in the U.S. Marines.  Seven months of his tour was served in Vietnam and Okinawa.
During his tour, Pete worked as a motor vehicle operator.
For his outstanding military service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, Campaign Medal with device, and Purple Heart Medal with one star.
On May 10, 1968 Crosland was discharged from active duty, but transferred to the Marine Corps Reserve.  While in the Marine Reserve, he served at the Automated Service Center in Kansas City, Missouri. It was on January 17, 1972, that Henry received his Honorable Discharge.
Henry is a graduate of Gordon High School, and he attended Florence Darlington Technical College from which he received an Industrial Electronic Diploma on August 20, 1977.
Pete is a member of Manning Baptist Church, a member of the S.C. Combat Veterans’ Group, and a member of Wonder Masonic Lodge 459. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James (Ila L.) Crosland.
