“I can’t wait until next year, I love victory sports camp,” that was one comment made by a child who participated in Victory Sports Camp this past week.
This is the sixth year this wonderful camp has opened it Succes doors to Dillon County.
A mission group from Fort Mill, Moncks Corner and surrounding areas along with volunteers from Dillon coordinated a sports camp for the children in the county. The camp is hosted yearly by Dillon Christian School and lasts from Monday-Friday afternoon.
The leader of the camp was Greg Pendarvis, a former baseball coach at Fort Mill, who leads a ministry year around called Victory Sports.
A host of volunteers led over 100 children through the week in various sports: baseball, softball, football, soccer, cheerleading, volleyball and basketball. As well, the afternoon opened up a great opportunity for a vacation bible school full of fun, music and mission activities.
Each morning opened with a presentation of colors that represented our life before God, how God has made a way back to Him through Jesus, and our life after we trust in Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. Then, each day closed with a story from scripture that told of the love of God and the proof that we have that Jesus is our Savior.
As the week closed, Victory Sports saw 13 children come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. A parent remarked that the camp means a lot to her and her family and that her children wished sports camp lasted all summer.
This week could not have been possible without the help of so many volunteers and churches.
Many people gave their week to help with the camp as well as cook meals for the mission team. A huge thanks to Dillon Christian School for opening their facilities for this awesome ministry.
Thanks to so many parents who brought their children to join in the great experience. If you missed out this year, don’t worry! Plans are already being made for a Victory Sports Camp 2020 right here in Dillon, SC the week of June 22-26.
