LATTA, S.C.—Lois Margaret Jones Warren went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 3, 2017, in Palmetto Baptist Hospital in Columbia, S.C. Born in the Mallory section of Dillon County on July 27, 1936, she was the daughter of Florence Berry and Charles Dwight Jones, Sr. She was the granddaughter of Florence Hayes and Madison Berry of the Oak Grove community of Dillon County and of Elizabeth McDuffie and Walter T. Jones of Latta. Her parents and grandparents predeceased her, but she is survived by two brothers, Charles D. Jones, Jr., of Latta, and Larry H. (Leslie) Jones of Sewanee, TN.
Lois attended grade school in Greenville, S.C., and Bradenton, F.L, and graduated from Latta High School in 1954. She also graduated from Palmer/Draughon’s Business College in Columbia and worked first for Dilmar Oil Company in Latta before moving back to Columbia. She was a member of Bethesda Southern Methodist Church.
Lois met her husband-to-be, Johnny Warren, in Columbia while attending Maple Street Southern Methodist Church where Johnny’s employer, Mr. McDade was a member. They were married in Maple Street Southern Methodist Church on February 14, 1958.
John “Johnny” H. Warren passes away on December 18, 2017, in Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, S.C.
Born in Columbia, in the Olympia section of Richland County, he was the son of Mary Meetze and Joseph A. Warren. He graduated from Olympia High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a professional truck driver and worked for McDade Oil Company and several other trucking companies and retired from The State newspaper delivery service. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Olympia, Columbia. He was the youngest child of Mary and Joseph Warren and was predeceased by his parents; his sisters Elizabeth (Clarence) McElmore, Allean (Harry) Kelly, and Patsy Warren and his brothers J.D. Warren and James A. Warren of west Columbia, S.C.
Lois and Johnny lived their more than 59 years of married life in Columbia and had two children, Beverly Anne Warren and John Edward Warren. They are survived by daughter Beverly (Douglas) Brazell and their four children, Nicholas, Kevin, Caitlin, and Matthew of Gaston, SC, and also by their son John (Jennifer) and their children Margart Elizabeth, Tabitha (Larry Redding) of Lexington, SC, and Christopher of Virginia as well as one great grandchild, Cleyera Redding.
A graveside memorial service will be held March 25, 2019, at the cemetery of Bethesda S.M. Church in Oak Grove near Latta. Memorials to the Cemetery Care Fund, Bethesda Southern Methodist Church, Highway 38 West, Latta, SC 29565 would appreciated.
