The Dillon Christian School Lady Warriors handed the visiting Florence Christian School a 13-5 loss in varsity softball in Dillon on Friday, March 15.
Florence Christian School drew first blood by scoring a run in the top of the first inning and added another run in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead before the Lady Warriors could get on the scoreboard. The Lady Warriors responded with a run in the bottom of the second inning and added another run in the bottom of the third inning to knot the score at 2 runs each. The Lady Warriors had a great bottom of the fourth inning by adding 7 runs. Florence Christian was not to be counted out and added 3 runs of their own in the top of the fifth inning. However, the Lady Warriors responded with 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth to once again have a 7-run lead, 12-5. The Lady Warriors added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The Lady Warriors managed 10 hits of which Shayla Hunt went 4 for 4 with 3 doubles and 2 rbi. Lindsey Branch connected for a hit and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats while Salina Johnson had a triple and a rbi in 3 at-bats.
Rachel Cook managed a hit and 2 rbi in 4 at-bats for Florence Christian School. Ansley Butler had a single, a double, and a rbi in 3 at-bats. Lauren Hucks went 1 for 4 with a rbi, and Gabby Perez had 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
Lindsey Branch picked up the win. She pitched 7 innings, allowed 9 hits, 5 runs of which 3 were earned, and walked 2.
Rachel Cook was charged with the loss. She pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowed 2 hits, 2 runs that were earned, walked no one, and struck out 2.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors are 3-1 for the season.
