Mrs. Hester Mae Berry, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 7, 2018 at the Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, New Jersey.
Born in Dillon County, SC, on June 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James McKenzie and Minnie Rasberry McKenzie. She and her late husband Wiley, were the former owner’s of Berry’s Grocery in Little Rock, SC. While living in Dillon County she attended Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Giammetta of Rockaway, NJ; a sister, Frances Arnette of Dillon; 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Evergreen Perpetual Care Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Berry was preceded in death by her parents & husband listed above; a son, James L. “Tinkybo” Berry; a brother, Lonnie Frank “Buck” McKenzie; and a son-in-law, Richard Giammetta.
