DILLON – Talmadge “T.B.” Blanton Herring, Jr., 88, died August 17, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon. Dr. Dickie Cullum will be officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Kannaday Funeral Home in Dillon, SC.

Mr. Herring was born in Dillon, South Carolina on March 28, 1930, a son of the late Talmadge Blanton Herring, Sr. and Minnie Hyatt Herring. He graduated from Dillon High School in 1949 and served overseas during the Korean War. Mr. Herring owned and operated Brothers Food, Inc., with locations in Dillon, SC and Kinston, NC, until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Herring was also involved with numerous community organizations and business ventures during his lifetime, including Pyramid Motors, Inc., Value Finance, and Taldous Men’s Store. Mr. Herring was a former Board Member of Saint Eugene Hospital and the South Carolina National Bank. He was a member of the Dillon Lions Club for 55 years, a Shriner, and a member of First Baptist Church.

Mr. Herring is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Jackson Herring; a daughter, Patricia Herring Page; two grandsons, Henry “Hank” Mark Page II and Talmadge Kirkland “Kirk” (Brittany) Page, both of Columbia; a sister, Frances H. Price of Floydale, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ezra, Willie, Joe, and Mack Herring; and by sisters Hazel H. Jackson and Beatrice H. Taylor.

Flowers are being accepted. However, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, 400 North Fourth Avenue, Dillon, SC 29536; the Omar Shriners Children’s Fund, 176 Patriots Point, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464; or to the charity of one’s choice. Kannaday Funeral Home of Dillon is assisting.
