Services for Elwood Dillon will be 4:00 P.M. Thursday in Pyerian Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Dillon, 89, died Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at his residence.
Born in Dillon County, he was the son of the late Lacy Dillon and Flora McKenzie Dillon. He was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in World War II. He served in Germany, Africa, and into Russia. He participated in building the bridge over the Rhine River. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Webster Dillon of Dillon; brother, Leon Dillon of Floyd Dale; half-brother, L.H. Dillon of Florence.
Mr. Dillon was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Dillon and his sister, Elizabeth Norton.
