The annual reunion of the descendants of Isham and Mary Watson was held at Antioch Church in Sellers on Sunday, June 24th. President Carl Sloan led the service in the church. Laurel Hayes Ammons provided the music. Alline Sloan Arguelles read the memorials. A roll call by family branch was held. Ninety-six people were present. The William Watson branch had the most members present followed by the Matthew Watson branch, the James Watson branch, the Nancy Watson Allen branch, and the James Watson branch. Former S.C. Lieutenant Governor Yancey McGill gave the report of the nominating committee.
Alice Sloan Bond announced the winner of the Furman and Linnie Bee Watson Essay Scholarship contest on “Why I Am Proud of My Watson Heritage.” The winner was Savannah Britt, the daughter of Andy and Belva Britt of Latta.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a group photo was taken, and several enjoyed lunch on the grounds. The reunion is held annually on the fourth Sunday in June.
