Services for James “Jimbo” McLellan, Jr. will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. McLellan, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.
Born in Dillon County, SC, December 17, 1936, he was the son of the late James McCormick McLellan, Sr. and Hattie Vera Gaddy McLellan. Jimbo was a graduate of Dillon High School in 1955 and attended the University of South Carolina. He was inducted into the Dillon Booster Club Hall of Fame, and was the President of the Wildcat Tunnel Crew. He was the President of Dillon Sunshine Washerette. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and a member of the South Carolina Forestry Commission. Jimbo was a loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include his daughter, Mandy (Jackie) Hayes of Dillon; sons, Phil (Carole) McLellan of Anderson, SC, and Tim (Mindy) McLellan of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Zach (Hannah), Shuler (Lindsey), and Ellie Hayes, Taylor, Jamie and Jordan (Emily) McLellan, Kelly (Keanan) Simpson, Anna Lisa Phillips, and Hunter McLellan (Macy McNair); great-grandchildren, Leo McLellan, Callaway Hayes, Claire Simpson, and Leianna McLellan; sister, Fay (Howard) Sloan of Dillon; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Jimbo was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Monroe McIntyre;
Memorials may be made to the Dillon Wildcat Booster Club, 1730 Highway 301 N., Dillon, SC 29536.
