The Dillon Wildcats held on to hand Lake City a 58-51 loss on Tuesday, January 30, in varsity basketball action played in Dillon.
Although Lake City controlled the tip-off, the Dillon Wildcats placed the first points on the scoreboard Jallian Williams sank a 3-point shot. On the next offensive play for Dillon, Jallian Williams connected for a 2-point shot and Dillon quickly led 5-0 before #24 for Lake City hit two 2-point shots in a row.
After the first period of play, Dillon held a 4-point lead, 11-7, over Lake City.
Dillon committed 3 fouls in the first period of play, and Lake City committed only 1 foul.
A 2-point shot by #32 for Lake City gave the visitors their first lead of the night, 12-11. However, Dillon hit a 3-pointer to once again take the lead 14-12.
The action went up and down the court while the lead changed or was tied on several occasions.
At halftime the teams were knotted at 27.
Dillon committed 4 fouls in the second period of play while Lake City was guilty of only 2.

Lake City took the lead on an assist by #32 on a 2-point basket. Dillon’s Shamar McCollum tied the game at 29 as he sank one for 2 points.
After the lead changed several times in the third period, Lake City managed a 5-point lead, 40-35, as the period ended.
In the third period Lake City committed 4 fouls, and Dillon committed 2.
Dillon took the lead early in the final period on two 3-point baskets. After exchanging leads, Dillon managed to go up 45-42 with 3:45 remaining in the game.
Lake City closed the gap to one point, 45-44, before Jallian Williams connected for a free throw to once again give Dillon a slim 2-point lead, 46-44.
Dillon held a 6-point lead, 52-46, with 1:37 remaining in the game.
Dillon’s Zy’Aire Charles laid in a 2-point basket to stretch Dillon’s lead to 8 points.
Lake City kept fighting, as both teams did. However, Dillon held on to win 58-51.
Dillon will travel to Georgetown on Friday, February 2.
