In loving memory of Virginia Sewell Whaley.
Virginia passed on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 in Dallas, TX at the age of 96. Born in 1921 in Durham, North Carolina, she spent most of her life in Dillon, South Carolina raising her family. The past eight years she lived in Dallas, Texas. Virginia lived a full life dedicated to her family and friends.
Virginia loved to travel, having visited San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Houston, and Vancouver, Canada to list a few destinations. She was a volunteer at Saint Eugene Hospital in Dillon and earned several service awards during her tenure. Virginia enjoyed good food and socializing with a glass of champagne. During her years in Dallas she became a passionate Texas Rangers fan and loved cheering them on from the stands.
Virginia is preceded by her husband Wallace William Whaley. She is survived by her sons, Wallace Whaley, wife Isabel Whaley, of Rancho Murrieta, California, and son Lee Whaley of Dallas, Texas, her grandchildren Kathy Sammarco, husband Dominic Sammarco, of Sonoma, California and Seaneen Whaley of Napa Valley, California and four great grandchildren, Nolan, Asher, Teagan and Declan.
Virginia will be buried next to her husband in Durham, NC at Woodland Memorial Cemetery.
