A group of professors from Thailand visited Dillon County recently.
The eight professors from Thailand teach in various disciplines at Nakhon Sawan Rajabhat University. The professors and their disciplines are: Mr. Jutipan Aniwatkool, Faculty of Agriculture technology and industrial technology Major energy engineer; Mr. Pathompong Jino, Faculty of Agriculture technology and industrial technology Major energy engineer; Ms. Parinyarat Jinto, Faculty of Science and Technology; Ms. Chotika Lila, Faculty of management sciences; Ms. Tiyaporn Luangpipat, Faculty of Science and Technology; Ms. Ladapha Pansuwan, Faculty of management science; Ms. Patchaporn Phanlong, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; and, Ms. Jittraphorn Sornkeaw, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Accompanying them was Mr. Nipon Prompilai, Educational Supervisor, Sa Kaeo Primary Educational Service Area Office 2, who is a former graduate student from Francis Marion University.
While here, they took Education 560-Project Based Learning taught by Francis Marion University Professor Dr. Polly Haselden, a Latta native. While in Dillon County, they toured Dillon and South of the Boarder and learned about industry growth in Dillon County. Dillon County Economic Director Tonny McNeil and Dillon County Councilman T.F. “Buzzy” Finklea, Jr., led the group on the tour.
While here in the area, they have taken trips to Columbia, Charleston, Myrtle Beach, Latta, and Dillon. They toured the Performing Arts Center, Florence Little Theatre, and Florence County Museum. They attended the Edwin McCain concert, a car show and festival, a Red Wolves game, and a backyard barbecue. They went to many restaurants in the Florence area and on their trips off campus. Their favorite of all was Shuler’s BBQ. When the group returns to Thailand they will create projects for their student to complete and also publish and present their work to the administration back home.
To practice their presentations, they presented to the Latta Rotary Club during their last week at FMU.
Before heading home, the group went on a trip to New York City.
