Dillon Christian School Warriors stand-out quarterback and safety Michael Minges signed a letter of intent to play football at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, N.C., on Wednesday, February 1, at the Dillon Christian School.
Not only is Minges a good football player but he is a pretty good basketball and baseball player. It really helps when one enjoys what one does.
Minges is the reigning SCISA Player of the Year, an accomplishment that as far as he is concerned, ranks almost with the winning of the State Football Championship this year at the Dillon Christian School. Minges also received other awards such as the WPDE Endzone SCISA Player of the Year, All-Region his junior and senior years, HSSR All-State Senior year, and participation in the North-South All Star game. All of these accomplishments are outstanding when one considers that Minges has only played football for 4 years.
Minges always strives to do his best as can be confirmed by his 1105 rushing yards with 15 touchdowns during his senior year plus 1695 passing yards with 26 touchdowns while being quarterback, and 75 tackles, 5 interceptions, a fumble returned for a touchdown, and an interception returned for a touchdown while playing safety on defense.
Minges will major in Mass Communications.
Minges’ Mother and Father, Mark and Marsha Minges, are so very proud of their son and only wish him the very best in life. Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Christian Wolfe stated “Michael Minges is an extremely talented athlete. He has served our football team as an outstanding leader, playing both starting quarterback and defensive back. He is such a coachable young man. He was our most valuable player on the team, a big reason we were able to go undefeated and win the state championship. Michael is well-liked and respected among his teammates. He is easy to get along with, has a strong work ethic, and understands the importance of continuous workouts to make himself stronger and better. He has been a pleasure to coach, and I look forward to seeing the great things that God has in store for him when he graduates from Dillon Christian School”.
