McLeod Medical Center Dillon recently completed renovations to its Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
“The biggest impact of the renovations will be to our patients and families as they gain a more welcoming space to rest and heal,” said Frank Munn, BSN, RN, Director of Critical Care Services at McLeod Medical Center Dillon. “Nursing and medicine have a long history of being tied to fresh, clean spaces to promote healing and health, and that is what the patients and families in Dillon are getting with the renovations.”
The six patient rooms, all overlooking a quiet courtyard, were updated with new flooring and wallcoverings.
In creating the new design, the focus on the renovation was on efficiency and flexibility – providing for future changes based upon population and technology.
The renovations give the staff at McLeod Dillon a more welcoming space to work in and deliver patient care. A new work station for nursing staff boasts new cabinetry and countertops.
New flooring was installed throughout the entire unit. A new medication preparation room improves work flow in its new location away from nursing and provider space. A new storage room adds much needed room for medical supplies and equipment.
A new ICU waiting area has been designed for improved privacy and comfort for visiting family members.
An open house was held on August 26 for employees to view the space.
