The Dillon District Four School Board elected officers and took up other business at their last meeting.
A motion was made by board member Kenny Bethea and seconded by board member Mike McRae to elect the same state of officers. The officers are Chairman- Ethel Taylor, Vice-Chairman- Earl Gleason, and Treasurer- Burt Rogers.
The following personnel recommendations were approved:
Resignations: Sheryl King- Custodian, Lake View High and Alan Winkeler- Custodian, Lake View High.
Recommendations: Malcolm Carmichael- Custodian, Lake View High and Theresa Moore- Custodian, Dillon Middle School.
Transfer: Joyce Ann Johnson- Custodian at Dillon Middle transfer to Lake View High.
Resignations at the End of the 2015-2016 SY: Daniel Dale- Teacher, Lake View High, Blue Huggins-Assistant Principal, Dillon High, Shanna Hunt- Teacher, Lake View Elementary, Meredith Page- School Psychologist , District, Brittany Thompson- Teacher, South Elementary, Cythia Williams- Teacher, Dillon High, Taylor Wise-School Psychologist, District, and Dorothy Bethea- Food Service, East.
Recommendation for the 2016-2017 SY: Kimberly Branch- Teacher, Kathryn Britt- Teacher, Sherika Ford- Teacher, Angelia Furnace- Teacher, Lacey Gaster- Teacher, Joseph Gleason- Career Specialist, Sharon Green- Teacher, Sherby Johnson- Teacher, Terrie Little- Teacher, Elisabeth Morris- Teacher, Gloria McLean- Teacher, Tricia McCallum- Teacher, Vernita Scarborough- Teacher, Mary Lou Sealy- Teacher, Ryan Young- Teacher, Shalanda McMillan- Instructional Assistant.
Art McMillan, Assistant Superintendent of Finance, reported that 79 percent of the budget has been expended as of April 30th. The balance of all funds as of April 30th is $5,221,608.44.
A construction update was given. It was time for the one-year walk-through for the district office. The parking lot in Lake View and some paint peeling at Lake View Elementary were discussed. Lynn Liebenrood, Director of Student Services, reported on the Title I, Title II, and Title III funds. Liebenrood said these funds will receive a cut next year. The tentative budgets for these funds were approved upon a motion by board member Alex Lewis and a second by board member Famon Whitfield.
The grading assessment systems policy were amended to reflect the uniform grading scale. The new grading scale is A= 90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69 and F=59 and below.
Graduation and the transgender bathroom issue were briefly discussed.
