Latta High School is ranked nationwide in US News & World Report’s ninth annual list of America’s Best High Schools.  This is the ninth year that Latta High School has been ranked.  The school earned a bronze ranking. US News & World Report started ranking high schools nationally since 2006.
The magazine and its partner in the rankings project, School Evaluation Services, examined 21,035 public high schools nationwide.  US News uses a three-step process that analyzes how schools are educating all of their students, minority and disadvantaged students’ achievement, and finally college-bound student scores on state tests, Advanced Placement exams and International Baccalaureate tests.
Nationwide the 500 high schools with the highest college readiness scores were ranked and awarded gold medals, and the next 1,790 top-performing schools earned silvers.  Bronze honors went to 2,515 high schools.
The state has 223 high schools. Two high schools make the gold list this year.  Seventeen high schools received silver.  
The state had twenty-nine high schools make the bronze list this year.
