Services for Horace Goodwin will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Cooper Funeral Home.
Mr. Goodwin, 78, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Born in Marion County, June 23, 1932, he was the son of the late Vernon Goodwin and Leila Watson Goodwin. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher, was a Gideon, a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, and was involved with the Sunny Acres Nursing Home Ministry.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Tyler Goodwin of Dillon; daughter, Betsy Goodwin Jones (Michael) of Dillon; son, Horace Steven Goodwin (Susan) of Dillon; three grandchildren, Amanda Jones Jackson (Darren) of Conway, Christina Jones Caulder (Robert) of Florence, and Jessica Goodwin Johnson (Michael) of Latta; four great-grandchildren, Madison Leigh Jackson, Sarah Elizabeth Jackson, both of Conway, Reid Lawson Caulder of Florence, and Austin Michael Johnson of Latta; two sisters, Barbara Belk of Floydale, and Evelyn Rouse of Latta.
Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his brothers, V.W. Goodwin, William Goodwin, and Paul Goodwin; and his sister, Sarah Sawyer.
