The Town of Lake View is looking at some projects to help improve their community.
According to Mayor Boston Page, the town is hoping to make improvements at the recreation park, make additions at the walking track, and construct a new town hall.
The first project is improvements at the Lake View Recreation Park. The project date for these improvements is November 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016. The project calls for constructing a new canteen and bathrooms; paving the area between the park gate and around the new canteen; paving the walkway from the street to the gate; rebuilding the three ball fields at the park including new fencing in selected areas; paving the parking lot adjacent to the recreation park shelter; paving the parking lot across the street from the recreation park; and installing a privacy fence between the park and the cemetery. The total estimated cost for this project is $511,500.
The second project is additions at the walking track. The project date is November 1, 2015 through June 30, 2016. The project calls for constructing new bathrooms with a stone façade and picnic shelter; paving a parking area for the facility; new lighting for the walking track area; and installing protective railings at the ditch crossings. The total estimated cost of this project is $288,200.
The third project is the construction of a new town hall building. It would house the mayor, town clerk, police department, court, and conference rooms. The proposed structure would be a Butler type building with a brick façade. The proposal includes new furniture and fixtures. The current town hall was constructed in 1950 and would need a complete renovation which would not be feasible. The total estimated cost of this project is $500,500.
The town hopes to secure the remaining money from the capital sales tax projects designated for Lake View infrastructure. The town has made a request to the County Administrator for the funds. The mayor would like to appear before the county council to discuss the capital sales tax funds further.
