The Mount Calvary Baptist Church Brotherhood, WMU, and BYU met Monday, November 2, at 7:00 p.m. in the Mount Calvary Family Life Center. After a delicious meal and fellowship, each group dispersed to the appropriate areas.
Joe Price, the Mount Calvary Baptist Church Brotherhood Director, welcomed everyone. Josh Walters welcomed the guest speaker, Jordan Costner of Cheraw, SC.
Jordan presented his testimony to the group. His scripture was from 1 Peter 2:9, 10-11 and 1 Peter 2:1. Jordan used Peter as an illustration as to how believers have to live their lives in front of non-believers. Our identity must be that of a Christian. One must have one’s identity in Christ.
Jordan was saved at an early age while growing up in Spartanburg. He was athletically gifted in baseball and successfully played at Carolina. He experienced a trial in his life after being injured, and he struggled with that for two years. This struggle made him realize that sports were not the only valuable thing in life. He soon began to devote his time to the outdoors.
After marriage and graduation, Jordan and his wife moved to Idaho. They lived in a community where 90% of the residents were LDS Mormons. He and his wife began serving in a local church; he soon became the youth leader.
Both felt the Lord working in their lives and moved back to South Carolina. Jordan and his wife have been living in Cheraw for the past one and a half years. He needed to make a change in his life, and he did.
Jordan challenged all of us to center our faith in Christ and to trust in the Holy Spirit … to totally make a commitment to God.
