Dear Editor:
On 11 Nov 15 the Dillon High School JROTC and the City of Dillon hosted their annual breakfast for veterans at the Dillon High School cafeteria. I am one of the veterans who attended this event.
The veterans enjoyed breakfast and a time of fellowship before being escorted to the gymnasium. We enjoyed a wonderful program honoring the veterans. What I consider one of the greatest honors of the day for all veterans is the attitude and military discipline of the JROTC cadets. Many of the cadets greeted us with a warm and friendly “Hello. Thank you for your service” accompanied by a warm and friendly smile. Some other attending veterans who I talked with also noticed how well these young people conducted themselves.
If the JROTC cadets who I had contact with on Wednesday is any indication of the future of our military, I say that we are in good hands. Congratulations to the leadership of the JROTC Cadets on a job well done. The parents of these young people also have reason to be proud. I don’t know any of these cadets personally, but this is one veteran who is proud of the DHS Cadets.
Sincerely,
Carl W. Scott

Whenever I read the headline of the November 14th issue of The Dillon Herald about Hardee’s coming to Latta, I was overcome with joy and sadness at the same time.
