The Dillon County Council voted to approve the postponement of reassessment at a recent meeting. County Administrator Clay Young explained that he had talked with Ken Dubose (County Attorney) and Steve Rogers (Tax Assessor) asking Council to postpone reassessment for one year and that an Ordinance will have to be passed. Assessor Steve Rogers told Council that we will have to write a letter to Department of Revenue in order to postpone reassessment. Councilman Archie Scott asked why the need to postpone? Rogers said due to personnel, that the Deputy Assessor is no longer employed due to him becoming the Auditor in Marion and that he (Steve Rogers) will be out. Councilman Randy Goings asked what the requirements are to be the Deputy Assessor. Rogers replied one must have an appraisal license. Councilman Robbie Coward motioned to approve Postponement of Reassessment. Councilman Archie Scott seconded. Voting in favor of motion was Councilmen Bobby Moody, Harold Moody, T.F. Finklea, Robbie Coward, Archie Scott and Stevie Grice. Opposed was Councilman Randy Goings.
