The Latta Lady Vikings hosted the Lake View Lady Wild Gators in the second round of the Lower State playoffs on Monday, May 13th. The Wild Gators came out on top and won 4-3.
Lake View got on the board early, when they put two runs across in the top of the first. With runners on third and second, Hannah Coburn came to the plate and hit a 2-RBI double back up the middle to center. Emma King and Kaleigh Blackmon were the runners. The game went quiet until the top of the third. Lake View put another run across. Holly Scott hit an RBI single to center that scored Locklear from second. In the bottom of the third, Latta cut the lead to 1 run. Katelyn Johnson came to the plate and ripped an RBI double to right field that scored Madison Kersey. In the next at bat, Johnson was able to get home on a wild pitch. In the bottom of the fourth, the Vikings tied the game up. Chayse Walters hit an RBI single to left field that scored Emily Smith from third. The Lady Wild Gators got their game winning run in the top of the fifth. Scott once again came to the plate and hit an RBI single to center field that scored Locklear. Lake View held the Vikings off and won in 7 innings.
Maddie Berry was the pitcher for the Vikings. She went all 7 innings and faced 31 batters. Her final line was 8 Hits, 4 Runs(3 Earned), 2 BB, and 10 Strikeouts.
Raven Locklear pitched for Lake View and also picked up the Win. She went all 7 innings and faced 29 batters. Her final line was 6 Hits, 3 Runs(2 Earned), 2 BB, and 3 Strikeouts.
Katelyn Johnson went 2-4(2B) with 1 Run and 1 RBI. Chayse Walters went 1-4 with 1 RBI. Maddie Berry went 1-3. Paisley Jackson went 1-3. Jae Miller went 1-3. Madison Kersey and Emily Smith each scored a run.
Holly Scott went 2-3 with 2 RBIs. Hannah Coburn went 1-2 with 2 RBIs. Raven Locklear went 2-3 with 2 Runs and 1 BB. Emma King went 1-4 with 1 Run. Kaleigh Blackmon went 1-4 with 1 Run. Kaitlyn Turner went 1-3.
Latta moved to the elimination game and will play Hannah-Pamplico for a spot in the Lower State finals.
Lake View moved to the Lower State finals and will wait to see who they play on Friday, May 17th.
