DILLON VFW MEMBERS TRAINED AS PATHFINDERS—VFW Post 6091 members Chris Norris, Timmy Hooks, Stephanie Maza, and Joey Williams have completed the Palmetto Pathfinder training provided by the Office of the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the State of South Carolina. The Palmetto Pathfinder Program is a South Carolina Veteran peer-support program that provides personal support for transitioning Veterans, regardless of length of service. The program connects Veterans to relevant resources and services in their communities and assists them in accomplishing their personal and professional goals while thriving after military service. As Pathfinders, these four Veterans can connect other Veterans and family members with statewide organizations to help with financial difficulties, employment, entrepreneurial guidance, and much more. They will also be able to connect Veterans and family members with the Dillon County Veteran Affairs Office for medical and educational benefit concerns. The certificate of completion presented to them and signed by Secretary of the SC-VA Todd McCaffrey states, “The bearer of this certificate was selected and trained to be a valuable resource for Veterans and their family members.” Dillon VFW Post Commander John Harlow said, “These 4 Palmetto Pathfinders are active in the Dillon VFW holding leadership positions and are #StillServing to help local Veterans and their families by guiding fellow Veterans transitioning to civilian life in South Carolina. Each received 3-days of intensive leadership development, interpersonal communications training, and resiliency training.” More information on the Palmetto Pathfinder program can be found at www.scdva.sc.gov/palmetto-pathfinder-program. Interested active-duty and Veterans can call the Dillon VFW at 843.506.8084. (Submitted by John Harlow)
