Dillon VFW Commander John Harlow opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Harlow presented those in attendance with Congressman Fry’s biography prior to introducing him.
United States Congressman Russell Fry was the guest speaker at the Dillon Veterans of Foreign Wars on Wednesday, September 6, at 9:00 a.m.
Congressman Fry informed the Veterans as to what was taking place in Washington since he was sworn into office in January, 2023. “The House Republicans have listened to the American people. We have passed laws to benefit the Veterans. We are committed to America. We want a government that is accountable,” remarked Congressman Fry. “We are aware of what’s going on at the border. We have continued to work on the wall.” Fry stated “There are 3.6 million illegal immigrants in the past 2 years. In the last 6 months of 2022, there are $26 million unpaid immigrant bills at the Yuma Hospital alone.”
The United States has passed the Lower Energy Bill. Oil prices continue to spike as we purchase from other countries as we do not issue permits in America for oil production.
Congressman Fry advised the Veterans that the NDA bill increases benefits for Veterans as well as increases our defense spending. He spoke to Dillon Veterans on Veteran issues facing Veterans. “It is obscene what Veterans have to go through for VA benefits and health care,” remarked Fry. “We have sponsored or co-sponsored many veterans bills.” After his speech, Congressman Fry allowed those present to ask him questions about Veteran earned benefits and services.
The Dillon VFW is located at 2042 Highway 9 East in Dillon.
