The Oxendine Family led services at Mount Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, August 27, at the 6:00 p.m. service.
Mount Calvary Pastor Harold Cooke opened the services with prayer. Afterwards he introduced the Oxendine Family of Shannon, N.C. Brief announcements were made followed by congregational singing of “Victory In Jesus” led by Music Director Gene Tanner.
Keith Oxendine has been an evangelist for 37 years. He is the lead singer of The Oxendine Family and is also a songwriter. He also traveled with the original Oxendines. He has experience singing with Bill Gaither at the National Quartet convention. He is a faithful follower of Christ and is married to Mrs. Artina Oxendine. They have five wonderful children all of whom sing with the Oxendine Family. However, on this occasion, the son was not present.
Since The Oxendine Family began their ministry, The Oxendine Family has enjoyed tremendous success in gospel music.
The group was introduced individually by Keith Oxendine. The daughters: the oldest is Heather who is a nurse, the “knee baby” is Kayla, and the baby girl is Alexis, and his wife is Artena. Of course, his wife introduced Keith, “the mouth-piece of the group”.
The Oxendine Family sang Southern Gospel Music and presented the Word to those in attendance at Mount Calvary.
The group performed many songs, old and new ones, to the delight of everyone.
Some of the songs were: “Lord, You Are Good In Your Mercy, “Tears On The Pew’ that Keith wrote for his wife, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”, “I’ll Lay My Crown At The Master’s Feet”, “Take Me Down To The River’, and more.
The Oxendine Family’s goal is to see people saved through Jesus Christ.
After the singing and the Word, an invitation was given.
Mount Calvary Baptist Church is located at 405 Mount Calvary Road, Dillon.
