The Dillon County Health Initiative held a pumpkin and sweet potato cooking contest at their October Farmers Market.
The entries included pies, cakes, side dishes, an appetizer and ice cream.
The winner of the pumpkin recipe was David Longacre for his Pumpkin Praline Torte.
The sweet potato recipe winner was Elizabeth Alderman for her Sweet Potato Souffle. Each winner receiving a $50 check. During the market there was Trick or Treating with market vendors, That Hartsville Bubble Guy and the City of Dillon Fire Department promoting Fire Safety.
Charles Carmichael, a member of DCHI, donated Chick-Fil-A sandwiches to the first 100 customers at the market and a $100 gift card which was won by David Longacre.
