Zane Bryant was sworn in as the Town of Latta Police Chief by Judge Alan Berry on Tuesday afternoon at the Latta Town Hall.
Bryant has served as interim chief since Friday, August 5th. Bryant has been employed by the Latta Police Department since September 2017. He is a native of Latta.
At his swearing in ceremony, Bryant said he was humbled and that he gave God all the glory. He thanked his wife and family for all they have done. He thanked council for the trust they have place in him.
Bryant said that he and the department will give 100 percent. “Servitude is our goal,” he said. Several officers were promoted including David Templet, who was promoted to sergeant; Nicholas Bethea, who was promoted to lance corporal; and Alex Lopez to Private First Class. The officers were sworn by Judge Janette Dupree.
During the ceremony, prayer was given by Paul Gasque and remarks were given by Town Administrator Melinda Robinson, Judge Berry, Judge Dupree, Councilman Brad Coward, Councilman Abbott Shelley, Councilman Marcus McGirt, and Councilwoman Lizzie Crawford.
