The Annual Main Street United Methodist Men’s Golf Tournament was held on Friday, September 16.
Dr. Phil Wallace thanked everyone for making this year’s the best golf tournament to date raising $45,000.00 that was donated to Helping Hands.
Dr. Wallace thanked the Johnson Foundation for donating the golf course to the City of Dillon in honor of Mrs. Vivian Johnson.
Wallace thanked Representative Jackie Hayes for the monies he received to help with renovations at the City of Dillon Vivian Johnson Municipal Golf Course. Wallace stated “Yes, Jackie is a Democrat but if everyone voted like Jackie, the nation would be better off.”
Wallace also thanked Ronnie “Catfish” Carter for his efforts and hard work to make this event successful including the wonderful monetary donations
“Catfish” also thanked everyone for the wonderful support. Carter stated that this is the fourth year that the funds have been donated to Helping Hands. In the first year, the group raised $25,000.00. Last year the group raised $35,000.00. This year the group raised $40,000.00. “Every penny raised for this tournament goes to buying food,” stated Carter.
Teresa and Brian Mason reiterated that the golf course was given in honor of her mother, Mrs. Vivian Johnson.
Mason thanked everyone for the huge donation to Helping Hands. Rev. Rob Pierce of the Latta Baptist Church had prayer for the tournament and thanked everyone for serving others.
